artists who want to push the boundaries of anything that has been done before or that feel that they truly possess a self birthed original concept. The contemporary painters created art of their will: contemporary paintings, contemporary abstract art, contemporary fine art, contemporary oil paintings and much more.
Here’s what Wikipedia has to say about: “Contemporary Art” !
Its spread and effect on the world has been profound. The art and art reproductions are everywhere. We now see every kind of visible expression, every kind of medium, every kind of material and every kind of label building and growing as well as every kind of criticism and acceptance worldwide. Never before in the history of art with a world that is closer than ever have we seen such a gathering of styles, shapes, expressions, mediums, classifications where the judgment, except for the self made critics, is totally in the eye of the beholder and value is set by one’s own interpretation.
Much of Contemporary Abstract Paintings find their roots in a gathering of ideas for social change.
The Civil Rights movement of Dr. Martin Luther King, Feminism and Women’s Rights, Rock and Roll and Music Industrial explosion, Political activism with Liberalism, Conservatism and Independents, Equal Rights, Endangered Species, Save the Whales, Save the Polar Bears, Save the Owls, Save the Planet, The Climate, Hug a Tree, The Green movement and on and on and on are and have become the social standard bearer of our times.
We live in the exploding “Information Age” and as more access to that information has become available more people have wanted others to join them in some kind of cause for some kind of change. At no time in our history has this been more prevalent.
Art and artists have moved separately and in conjunction with others to have involvement within each type of these society awareness campaigns. Many have provided their art as messages of those changes.
During these years of knowledge explosion the world and especially the United States, has seen an explosion of those who call themselves artists. They call themselves artists due to vast opportunities of expression, the need artists have had to survive monetarily, the expansion of the arts and crafts movement, and the outgrowth of the need for teaching and education, as well as all those self-teaching seminars, CD’s, workshops, and therapy sessions. They have been declared artists by family or friends or just made their own decision that that is who they are.
As much as this seems to be misdirection, it is actually a new profound freedom where an individual can personally encounter something that takes them beyond price, value and someone else’s assessment into a passionate engagement with something beyond one’s self.
